Our Story:

Founded on the principle of empowerment, HEAL emerged from the shared vision of a group of passionate individuals dedicated to fostering resilience, promoting inclusivity, and advocating for personal growth. We believe in the transformative power of opportunity and the richness of diversity, and we work tirelessly to bring these values into the lives of those who need it.

Focus Areas

Our primary objective centers on youth mentoring and career development for youth of color, with a particular focus on encouraging young individuals to pursue careers in STEM fields. Our goal is to support their growth and advancement in these areas.

The success story of Mohamud

With the support of our mentorship program, we assisted Mohemed Mo'alim in navigating the necessary resources to join a boot camp, leaving him excited about his future career prospects. Mohamed's passion for pursuing a tech career was unwavering, but he lacked the necessary guidance and resources. Fortunately, with the assistance of HEAL mentorship, he found the bridge to shape his future in the tech industry.

From the Executive Director

Engaging in cross-cultural work requires us to challenge our preconceived notions about how life "should" function. It means acknowledging our blind spots in every interaction, recognizing that our understanding is shaped by our cultural lens and life experiences, and that we may not have a complete picture.

Over the past decade, we have learned that genuine community development and progress originate from within the communities themselves. It starts with individuals who possess dreams and vision, rather than external aid workers dictating solutions. Our role is that of community facilitators. We offer our expertise and seek additional knowledge when needed. We remain adaptable and committed to walking alongside communities for as long as necessary. Most importantly, we listen without judgment and refrain from feeling the need to "fix" everything.

Our experience in working with youth and mentoring them for their career development has taught us that real change is a gradual journey, one worth embracing with every step we take. We have also learned that graduating from high school successfully can be attributed to having a supportive mentor who believes in and respects the individual.

HEAL is an organization with a grand vision – a world where every person has access to the healing they require, where youth are not affected by drugs and negative influences, and where every young person receives the necessary support.
